Pricey but fun!

I've had no issues with this product myself and cutting with it. Is it perfect? No, not perfect. Is it fun? Absolutely. My daughter wants toys of things that don't always have things available, and I teach her that she can always make her own. Just like making her own animations on a computer, to drawing pictures of characters, to now creating with the cardboard cutter.It's pretty simple to use and while it can take a bit of figuring out for kids, it's a great learning opportunity. The price is a bit steep, I would say, but only in the terms that it's out of the price range of a lot of people who's children may benefit for a product like this. This might be a great investment for schools or therapies though.

This item is easy to use - just plug it and press the nose button and start cutting. You can use any cardboard but it does come with a few pieces of cardboard with printed designs. It's great that you don't to buy expensive refills - you just use any cardboard. You can cut freehand or draw out designs first.This is a great toy for a creative child, especially the type that wishes they could play with their parents' power tools.I know this is intended for children, but I tested it out myself and I found it SO satisfying. It cuts the cardboard so cleanly and smoothly.Unlike other crafts, this device leaves zero mess. All cardboard shavings go into a drawer that is easy to pull out and empty. Some shavings get caught at the base of the blade, but the top piece of the device is easy to remove and you can then suck up the stuck shavings with a vacuum. It is really well-designed so that there is never an issue with trapped shavings that you can't access to clean out.The thought of letting a child play with a device that resembles a saw is kind of scary, but it's designed well so that only something as thin as a piece of cardboard can get any where near the blade - a finger will not fit in there. But you of course would still only want a child to play with it supervised.It is quite pricy for a children's toy (even with the $50 coupon at time of testing) but for the right child, it will provide hours of fun. When you take into account that you feed it cardboard that would otherwise go to recycling with no other expensive refills (it comes with a few replacement blades so it would take a while before you have to buy those), it can be worth it for a creative family.

Fun idea but so expensive

We're a very creative and crafty household, and so I was excited to get this BEAVERBOT cardboard cutter device to see if I could spark even more creativity and fun in our kids. First of all, I like that this is a clever and fun looking device. Obviously designed to be a beaver, I like that and my kids thought that was fun. Secondly, I love the concept of something that can be used to cut up stuff already in your house (cardboard) to create new things. I also like how safety is so important as I'm hesitant to give my kids cutting devices most of the time since they range in age (3-10) and have varying abilities to be safe. This BEAVERBOT is designed with the blade more internal and so I wasn't ever worried about my kids cutting themselves with it. It also worked pretty well with our normal carboard to cut and my kids thought it was cool because it really did seem like an 'adult' tool (but kidified). My biggest complaint is that while it is a cool tool, it is kind of limited in that it really is just an expensive cutter as it does nothing to really assemble or put together the pieces. Honestly I wanted to love it more than I did, but for this price I think it's mostly kind of niche.
